Beginner Sewing Class – Skirtmaking 101

Welcome to our ‘Sewing For Beginners’ class!
This is a 4-week course designed to introduce beginners to the art of sewing by following a simple pattern and making a skirt. Skills students will learn: – how to use your sewing machine – essential sewing techniques – how to read a simple pattern -how to make a skirt Best For: Sewing beginners with a little bit of experience, and intermediate sawists who would like to learn to sew using a paper pattern.
Material Requirements: Students will get to purchase a paper pattern from Fabricant and purchase their own fabric. You are welcome to bring your own machine to class or use a school machine. A required notions list will be sent by email upon registration. With step-by-step guidance from your teacher and a small class size of 6, you will gain confidence in your sewing abilities and come away with a custom fitted, handmade garment.
This class will run for 4 weeks on Wednesday nights from 7pm – 9:30pm *** Class 1: Wednesday January 15th Class 2: Wednesday January 22nd Class 3: Wednesday January 29th Class 4: Wednesday February 5th All notions can be purchased from the Sewing Machine Sales & Repair Centre with a 15% student discount with proof of class purchase. NO MAKEUP CLASSES ARE GIVEN SO PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE AVAILABLE BEFORE REGISTERING FOR A CLASS! The classroom is located upstairs above the Sewing Machine Sales & Repair Centre. Please note The Sewing School is accessible by stairs only. Starting date of class is dependent upon required number of students (6). Should minimum student enrollment not be met, class dates may be changed and students will be informed ahead of time. Cancellation will not be accepted within 10 days of class starting date.
